Trying to sort out office electronics and battery recycling without guessing
Our office is clearing out a storage room full of old laptops, mixed batteries, and a few decommissioned servers, and I have never arranged this kind of pickup before. What I mostly want to understand is how people verify that a recycling company actually handles everything responsibly instead of just hauling it away. From what I read so far, batteries usually need to be separated by chemistry type, and hard drives should be destroyed in a documented way rather than simply wiped. While comparing providers I found it useful for checking what a full service normally covers, including data sanitization and on site shredding. What quality signs would you look for before signing anything, and does on site destruction really make a difference compared to off site handling?
